Talavera

A Little Piece of Puebla in your Home

Talavera pottery has a long and illustrious history since it was introduced to Mexico by Spain in the 16th century. The lovely city of Puebla has been making this coveted earthenware since it was founded in 1531, and the Talavera tradition dominates the city of Dolores Hildalgo as well. Then the beautiful blue and white tin-glazed tiles were used to decorate churches and monasteries; nowadays however, Talavera is used to decorate everything! Talavera has long been some of the finest pottery available due to the expense of the pigment that creates the brilliant blue used in the complex designs. Banderas Bay Trading Company is your place for authentic Talavera pottery in any of three qualities: fine, semi-fine and daily use. Flowerpots, candlesticks, urns and more; Talavera is used to create an unending array of home wares and decorations.
